Tokyo Family & Portrait Photographer for Travelers

Your trip to Japan is a memory worth more than phone snapshots — especially when someone is always missing from the photos because they're taking them. I'm Lester Miyashiro, a WPPI Double Master and ICON finalist, and my English–Japanese team at ILUMINI Photography creates relaxed family and portrait sessions for travelers visiting Tokyo. We plan the location and timing around your itinerary. You just show up, and everyone gets to be in the picture.

Family-friendly Tokyo photo locations

From our base in Hamamatsucho, Minato, we can recommend spots that work for strollers, little legs and tight schedules:

  • Parks and gardens — open space for kids, seasonal flowers and leaves.
  • Shrine and temple grounds — a calm, unmistakably Japanese backdrop.
  • Tokyo Tower area and city views — iconic skyline photos close to our Minato base.
  • Historic neighborhoods — traditional streets and old Tokyo charm.
  • Near your hotel — when keeping travel time short matters most.

Some locations limit professional photography or get crowded at peak times. We'll suggest options that fit your family and timing, so the session feels easy, not rushed.

How booking works

Frequently asked questions

How long is a family session?

It depends on the package. Shorter sessions suit young children and busy itineraries, while longer sessions allow outfit or location changes. See Packages & Prices.

How much does a family photographer in Tokyo cost?

Our portrait sessions start from $420 USD, with all pricing published on our website so you can plan your travel budget.

What should we wear?

Comfortable outfits in coordinated (not matching) colors work best. We'll share simple guidance after you book, and we can arrange kimono if you'd like a traditional look.

Our kids get restless. Will that be a problem?

Not at all. We keep sessions playful and move at their pace. Some of the best photos happen between the posed ones.

What time of day is best?

Early morning and late afternoon usually offer softer light and fewer crowds. We'll recommend a time that works with your children's routine and your itinerary.

Can grandparents or relatives with limited mobility join?

Yes. Tell us in advance and we'll choose a location with easy access and minimal walking.

Do you speak English?

Yes. We work in both English and Japanese, so planning and the session itself can be entirely in English.
